**Role Value Proposition:**

The Financial Analyst will build partnerships to develop, implement, and manage expenses that are aligned with the business strategy. Perform a variety of financial studies, analyze and report interrelationships of financial information. Reconcile expenses based upon Brighthouse Financial and internal expense management guidelines. Determine validity of data and provide supporting explanations. Perform a number of daily/weekly/monthly tasks. Work effectively and diligently to resolve issues. Work on ad-hoc projects as assigned. The successful candidate will blend a solid foundational financial skillset with the desire and ability to understand the businesses we support.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Prepares internal reports by downloading information from single or multiple sources.

+ Analyzes monthly expenses by segment, performs research, and gathers explanations for variances.

+ Analyzes quarterly expenses by legal entity, performs research, and gathers explanations for variances.

+ Reconciles monthly GAAP to STAT differences and produce the quarterly STAT Trend file.

+ Create continuous opportunities to improve processes and gain efficiencies.

+ Assist team in running queries and adhoc reports needed to support meetings with the Controllers group.

+ Populate explanations used for GAAP OBIEE and STAT analytics.

+ Develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners.

+ Actively participates in daily huddles.

+ Special projects and Adhoc analysis as needed.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**

+ Bachelors degree preferable in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

+ Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a Finance or Accounting position

+ Working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices

+ Experience with MS Excel including advanced functions such as pivot tables, lookup and index match

+ Experience with general ledgers (PeopleSoft) and reporting tools (Hyperion Planning/HFM) a plus

+ Knowledge of Essbase and SAP a plus

+ Demonstrates strong analytical skills

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

+ Effective prioritization and time management skills

+ Ability to work effectively individually as well as in a team environment
