Overview / Responsibilities 

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an Engineer-in-Training/Design Professional Civil Engineer with 1 to 3 years of experience to support civil engineering projects related to water resources, solid waste, and civil design. 

The individual will work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists and scientists on civil design projects with an emphasis on field investigation, engineering design, plans and specification development, and permitting. Projects would range from water resources; permitting, design and construction of industrial landfills and impoundments; dam design and construction; pipeline siting and permitting; renewable energy projects; and commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities 
•Regulatory requirements research (City & county development rules and restrictions)
•Site reconnaissance/field visit
•Reviewing maps, engineering plans, aerial images, etc.
•Calculations (stormwater runoff; impervious cover; available space for stormwater infrastructure)
•Preparing site development permit applications
•Starting from preliminary site layout design, then working out the stormwater drainage, detention, and in some cases stormwater treatment ponds
•Coordinating with LCRA technical staff, Amec and subcontractor CAD technicians
•Preparing engineering plan sets for site development applications
•Responding to review comments from City/County reviewers
•Preparing Edwards Aquifer Plans (e.g., Water Pollution Prevention Plans “WPAPs” for sites on the Recharge Zone)
•Preparing engineering designs and plans for TCEQ in addition to cities/counties
•TPDES construction stormwater plans & permits

Skills / Qualifications 
•BS and/or MS Civil Engineering
•1-3 years of civil design and/or solid waste experience
•A fundamental background in civil engineering is required for this position
•Education and/or experience with a focus on water resources is preferred
•Must have excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
•Knowledge of civil design software [stormwater runoff/watershed models (e.g. HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, etc.), hydraulics models (HEC-RAS, FLO-2D) is preferred
•Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
