**Position Overview**

The EHS Specialist will provide environmental health and safety (EHS) services primarily to the Siemens Healthineers Ultrasound research and development in Issaquah, Washington, but will be involved in EHS activities at other Ultrasound USA sites and international sites.

The EHS Specialists efforts are designed to protect the environment, prevent employees, visitors and contractors from getting injured, assure compliance with local, state and federal EHS laws and regulations, manage EHS risks, prepare for emergencies, and promote employee health programs.

The position reports to the Siemens Healthineers Ultrasound Director EHS located in Mountain View, California.


Develop, implement, manage, and administer an environmental health and safety management system (EHSMS) that aligns with international standards, good work practices, laws and regulations

_Tasks include:_

Identify hazards and environmental aspects and impacts

Assess EHS risks associated with existing and new processes, substances, equipment and facilities

Develop creative, effective solutions to EHS problems

Provide technical guidance to employees regarding environmental, health and safety related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance

Evaluate compliance to laws and regulations

Develop and teach training classes

Make presentations

+ Lead and participate on teams and committees

Manage outside contractors

Project management

+ Conduct industrial hygiene (IH) surveys, ergonomic evaluations, job hazard analyses (JHA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard and risk assessments, compliance assessments, inspections, and audits

Perform regulatory compliance activities, including preparing and submitting reports and interfacing with regulatory agency personnel

Gather data and maintain logs and records

+ Manage workers compensation claims and return-to-work program

+ Package and ship hazardous waste

+ Prepare reports

+ Establish policies and procedures

**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Bachelors degree in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related discipline

+ Show a passion for EHS

+ 8 or more years experience in EHS

+ Travel up to 10%, including internationally

+ Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations and EHS standards

+ Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate workplace hazards and to recommend controls

+ Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

+ Effective critical thinking

+ Strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills

+ Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

+ Must be able to interface with employees up to 2 levels higher in the organization

+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, activities and projects

+ Ability to investigate accidents, incidents, and non-conformances and perform root cause analyses

+ Ability to analyze data

+ Ability to drive projects to completion

**Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or working toward these certifications

+ 3-5 years experience in EHS program management

+ Experience managing hazardous materials

+ Knowledge of State of Washington EHS laws and regulations

+ Experience with laboratory safety

+ Experience with electrical safety

+ Experience with EHS in a medical device or other medical setting

+ Experience with office ergonomics

+ Experience with emergency response
