Divisional Vice President, Privacy

Abbott
Green Oaks, IL 60048

At Abbott, we're committed to helping people live their best possible life through the power of health. For more than 125 years, we've brought new products and technologies to the world -- in nutrition, diagnostics, medical devices and branded generic pharmaceuticals -- that create more possibilities for more people at all stages of life. Today, 99,000 of us are working to help people live not just longer, but better, in the more than 150 countries we serve.

Over the past few years, Abbott has undertaken a dynamic transformation spanning its innovative products to its technology infrastructure.  With its leading technologies like FreeStyle Libre, AlinIQ and CardioMEMS, among others, Abbott and the patients we serve live in an increasingly digital world inundated by the power of big data.  Moreover, Abbott’s strategic acquisitions in 2017 of St. Jude Medical and Alere have amplified the breadth and complexity of its business.  In addition, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) soon takes effect in Europe and will impact how multinational companies like Abbott do business.  As such, the leadership roles of technology and data stewards are evolving.

The Divisional Vice President, Privacy will be the head of Abbott’s global data privacy and protection program.  He or she will report to Abbott’s Vice President, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

The successful candidate is an experienced privacy professional and manager, with a proven track record in collaboratively and pragmatically managing data protection needs and issues for a multi-national company.  He or she has experience in presenting to senior executives and outside directors, is a self-starter who successfully works in “virtual” teams and cross-functional working groups, and has a proven track record of setting the vision for a global privacy compliance program and driving for results.  This individual is expected to build effective relationships with business unit leaders and other clients, and to partner with Abbott’s global Legal and IT organizations.  He or she manages a direct team of dedicated privacy professionals and works with numerous other privacy stakeholders around the world.

The Divisional Vice President, Privacy will be based in Abbott Park, Illinois but should be prepared to travel to other Abbott locations globally as needed.
