**Role Value Proposition:**

The Strategic Planning Director will manage the Group Benefits business plan and technology portfolios. The position will report directly to the VP of Business Planning and Governance.

This position will have direct management responsibility and accountability for business planning and technology portfolio management. The role will support the profitable growth targets in the 3 market segments National, Regional, and Small by ensuring that we have the proper strategic planning in place to reach our goals. The role will partner primarily with the Group Benefits Heads of Strategy, the Group IT organization, the Operations PSD team and the USB SSG teams to align the market objectives, strategies and priorities and put effective execution structure and budgets in place to deliver on these priorities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Execute the annual Group Benefits business planning process

+ Manage funding requirements for the technology portfolios: primarily the Application Development and Compliance and Risk portfolios, and secondarily the Maintenance and iSLA portfolios.

+ Track and analyze financial performance of all technology portfolios: proactively manage program funding and align financial performance to program execution and financial forecast

+ Prepare financial reports for senior management

+ Align all enterprise planning requirements with US Business Partners in the Strategic Solutions and Governance team

+ Align program execution and financial sequencing with the Program Solutions and Delivery team in GTO Operations to ensure

+ Align financial forecasting to IT and Finance partners to ensure correct financial reporting is relayed to management

+ Align strategic portfolio decisions between market segment strategy leads, planning and governance lead, IT and PSD teams and SSG when required-

+ Coordinate all funding requirements in the USB Governance Framework, including but not limited to the USB Governance Sharepoint database

+ Work closely with the VP of Business Planning & Governance to develop and oversee the plan, managing change over time. This requires coordinating across Group Benefits business segments, U.S. business partners and aligning with the Enterprise.

+ Drive strategic direction and priorities into the annual planning process, coordinating the process and ensuring outputs are aligned to achieve objectives.

+ Lead planning needs and ensure value generation is incorporated into the planning process.

+ Interact with senior management on a regular basis to ensure market segment leads and strategies are incorporated and performing on business plan.

+ Analyze complex data, make recommendations and present recommendations to senior management

+ Manage and optimize interfaces and partnership with the Enterprise and U.S. Business segments.

+ Direct U.S. Business planning-related communication activities and content of supporting materials.

+ Identify, assess and escalate issues and challenges, providing recommendations for resolution to the VP of Planning and Governance.

+ Prepare updates and coordinate ramp-up work in preparation of Group Benefits interaction with U.S. Business Leadership, Group Benefits Executive Steering Committees, U.S. Data Governance Executive Steering Committee, Technology Currency Steering Committee and any other Enterprise and business segment-level governance as required.

+ Ensure high quality of Group Benefits planning and reporting materials, including those used in highly visible forums with U.S. Business Leadership, the Executive Group and the Board of Directors.

+ Evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to the strategic planning, governance oversight, and joint business/technology planning and execution processes.

+ Collaborate closely with peers to manage a holistic approach to strategy, planning and governance. Coordinate and align processes and supporting tools.

+ Diligently manage resources to keep expenses within prescribed budgetary limits.

+ Gain understanding of the market objectives, strategies and priorities and put effective plans and budgets in place to deliver on these priorities.

+ Partner proactively and collaborate effectively with business leaders from functional areas to achieve sustainable growth that align with the key corporate strategy.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

+ Ability to work independently in fluid scenarios

+ Leadership to connect dots, solve problems and find alternative solutions to competing priorities

+ Financial acumen required; experience in financial reporting highly desirable

+ Budget management, allocation management and financial impact analysis experience

+ Strong record of proven success in aligning teams towards a specific goal

+ Expert in understanding, improving and designing processes

+ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills including relationship building, collaboration, influencing, negotiation and conflict mediation

+ 10-15 years of successful work experience leading a variety of strategic planning functions

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ MBA, CFA or graduate degree in finance preferred

+ Knowledge of Group Benefits organization, products, services and supporting technology is a plus

+ Knowledge of insurance and/or financial services is a plus
