**Role Value Proposition:**







The Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization function is responsible for tracking and forecasting organic and project-driven demand for infrastructure, and reconciling that demand to available capacity. This includes predicting usage of existing infrastructure, optimizing performance, and planning capacity for the introduction of new services over time. The Director of the IT/IS Capacity Assurance team will be responsible for Data Analysis and Capacity Planning & Forecasting for the distributed compute and storage infrastructure.







**Key Responsibilities:**







+ Directs the modeling and predictive analysis of infrastructure capacity in support of service levels that includes modeling studies of forecasted growth and determining availability of capacity on the target platforms



+ Ensures recommended capacity optimization, including increases, decreases, and decommissions



+ Leads the analysis of distributed infrastructure capacity usage trends for planning hardware acquisitions to prevent business interruption



+ Drives definition of service offering, consumer, usage model, and deliverables to support the IT/IS Capacity Assurance service



+ Directs budget expense analysis associated with hardware & software portfolio management



+ Ensures innovative processes to reduce budget expenses while maximizing utilization of assets



+ Directs the strategic direction of technology supporting higher levels of utilization and performance of infrastructure capacity



+ Gains commitment for and owns the distributed capacity strategy for compute and storage including forecasting, capacity demand management and asset planning



+ Directs and guides the implementation of tools and techniques for execution of a comprehensive and streamlined capacity forecasting and planning model



+ Develops and manages the tools and techniques for identifying capacity and asset optimization opportunities



+ Ensures technology allocation reviews occur at regularly scheduled intervals to continuously refine forecasting & planning accuracy



+ Partners with GITO domain engineers to build an appropriate distributed and midrange infrastructure technology capacity plan to meet the demands of customers at agreed upon performance levels and conduct feedback sessions to continuously refine forecasting accuracy



+ Develops consulting statements of work, objectives, deliverables and SLAs.



+ Manages project and department financials and forecasting



+ Supervisory Responsibilities that includes:



+ Full people management responsibility, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development.



+ Holds primary responsibility for external consultants and manages all transactions related to SOWs and performance SLAs



+ Attracts and develops talent to enhance the teams effectiveness







**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**







Required:







+ 10+ years varied IT experience



+ Minimum 5 years management experience



+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to partner with App Development, the Business and other groups within Enterprise Technology including all levels of management, executives, officers within the enterprise



+ Excellent skills in producing capacity planning and project requests that contain alternatives, justifications, or analysis that go beyond just delivering data



+ Experience regularly presenting to Senior Management and Business owners



+ Strong ability to apply technical product, system, emerging technology expertise to lead the development of capacity strategies and plans with ability to anticipate outputs that will satisfy customers expectations



+ Strong project management skills with strong research and analytical skills







Preferred:







+ Bachelors degree in related field



+ Comprehensive in depth knowledge of the MetLife IT environment or one of similar complexity



+ Leader in technical areas of capacity management for MetLife in analytic modeling and predictive analytics



+ Demonstrates technical background and leadership experience in infrastructure and systems management



+ Experienced in the development of automation tool based solutions for capacity planning and performance management principles
