**Role Value Proposition:**

The Dental and Vision Product Director (DVPD) will serve as a key member of MetLifes Group, Voluntary & Worksite Benefits Sales team and will contribute significantly to the overall growth of the business. He/She provides sales support and product expertise to the field sales force as well as intermediaries within his/her assigned sales area to drive sales.

In addition, the DVPD works with Product, Finance, Marketing, E-Business, Sales and Service groups to develop and drive strategies to increase quote volume, closing ratios and persistency. The DVPD provides market insights to support and assist Product, Service, and other development efforts to promote market leading innovations to Product and other partners within MetLife.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Work with assigned sales associates to achieve Dental and Vision sales and persistency goals; activities may include assisting in the development of business plans, associate training, prospecting support, customer issue resolution/acquisition or renewal strategies and intermediary interaction/education.

+ Work with partner organizations to coordinate strategies that drive growth and persistency.

+ Facilitate growth of product knowledge by providing training to assigned field associates and intermediaries across all market segments; assist in the identification and the development of training topics to facilitate an understanding of MetLifes Dental and Vision products, including new product initiatives and service/operational capabilities.

+ Facilitate product knowledge by providing training and support to partner organizations.

+ Develop new business opportunities and sales growth by initiating and maintaining strong relationships with assigned sales representatives.

+ Accountable for the sales and product support within assigned area including participation in consultant/broker relations, prospecting and participation in finalist presentations as required.

+ Participate in Dental and Vision initiatives, projects, and programs as directed by management.

+ Timely completion of reports including activities, progress and strategies.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned or required that will add to both personal and company success.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**

+ Bachelors Degree Required

+ 8+ years of experience in the Dental insurance industry within a respected national or regional insurance organization that provides innovative Dental products to group employers of all sizes; similar experience with Vision insurance is ideal.

+ 5+ years of marketing and/or sales experience within the group benefits marketplace marked by proven success generating top and bottom line growth.

+ Specific knowledge of group Dental insurance; knowledge of the current group Dental competitive marketplace is a plus.

+ Knowledge of VSP is considered to be an asset.

+ Group, Voluntary & Worksite Benefits product and operational knowledge is a strong plus.

+ Previous sales roles within respected insurance companies or possibly within brokerage and consulting firms where he/she developed and executed a successful business strategy that led to new business/revenue outcomes.

+ Ability to effectively translate strategic plans and communicate to sales and other partner organizations through marketing and training programs.

+ Ability to provide an effective presentation of Dental and Vision products and services to external and internal audiences.

+ Track record of effective and pragmatic business planning and the successful execution against those plans.

+ Proven ability to think strategically providing insight on clients, competitors and the market by leveraging internal and industry tools and reports.

+ Demonstrated success initiating and developing respectful, trusting and productive relationships with all stakeholders.

+ Ability to drive results through influence in a heavily matrixed environment.

+ Strong project management skills; ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment within a multiple project environment.

+ Ability to work independently and effectively multi-task.

+ Strong salesmanship and interpersonal skills.

+ Articulate; excellent presentation and communication skills.

+ Results oriented with the ability to overachieve business objectives.

+ An effective team member; highly collaborative.
