**Job Description:**







This is a key position within the Siemens Legal Department that provides support to the Mobility Division in the US, on all legal matters related to rail infrastructure projects arising in North American operations. The attorney will work closely with the Contract Managers and other lawyers, and provide legal advice and approvals where required during public procurements and/or contract negotiations. The attorney should have proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts with (public) customers, suppliers and vendors, and be able to draft sophisticated legal advocacy position papers, claims, and legal memoranda.







The main areas of focus include:







- Review of public procurement contracts, requests for proposals and contracts with class 1 freight railroads as well as advice on applicable laws and risk mitigation strategies



- Knowledge of legal issues in Rail Transportation Industry, Public Infrastructure, and Construction law



- Claims management and litigation support



- Coordination of legal advice with legal colleagues around the world



- Ability to work closely with management and contribute to the success of the business by providing practical legal and business advice



- Strong legal writing skills required







Responsibilities:







*Analyze, manage and resolve diverse matters with government agencies or commercial customers.



*Investigate, manage and resolve project and contract conflicts.



*Conduct legal research and writing; and provide ongoing legal support within territory.



*Review and provide legal advice relating to high profile contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, sales transactions, project implementation issues, and general corporate matters.



*Provide pre-claim strategies to protect projects and investigate, manage, and prepare contract claims



*Manage outside counsel, and supervise arbitration and litigation proceedings.



*Develop risk mitigation and settlement strategies and negotiate and finalize settlement agreements where necessary.



*Develop and provide legal/compliance training to organization, and work with corporate executives to ensure adherence to corporate policies.







Qualifications:







*JD required and must be admitted/licensed to practice law in one or more states.



*Minimum of 7 years experience in a construction, contracts, or commercial legal transactions in a law firm or corporate in-house position required.



*Proven track record in commercial transactions and claims management.



*Excellent interpersonal communications skills (written and verbal) required.



*Negotiation abilities a must.



*Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite.



*Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast paced environment.



*Willingness to travel (10%) domestically and very little internationally.



*Experience with infrastructure projects and government contracts preferred
