Rail Transport Electrical Designer

**Position Overview**

The Rail Transport Electrical Designer plays a critical role in the design of electrical circuits used to power the worlds most technologically advanced trains. The designer will collaborate with mechanical design system engineering and electrical integration colleagues to design electric circuits for purposes of production and manufacturing.


Prepare schematics using Elcad. Prepare and review electrical design to US and European standards (IEEE, NFPA, DIN etc..).

Prepare, review and submit technical specifications and proposals.

Prepare, review and submit light rails, locomotives and coaches electrical concept of low voltage and high voltage

Provide support to customers, vendors, chain management and engineering management.

Create, update and manage redlines of Engineering/Manufacturing BOM.

Create and release engineering documents (redlines and BOM) via PDMLink, SAP and JDEdwards.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment, interfacing with factory workers, purchasing, communication with suppliers and customers, and interdepartmental interaction.

**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

Bachelor's degree in related field with two years experience

Must be capable of designing electrical schematics and reading mechanical drawings.

Electrical circuit design experience with Elcad

The ability to interpret customer specification and design electrical schematics in consistency with US (or defined) standards is a must.

Interfacing and interpreting system engineering documents is a key part of the design process.

The ability to perform complex and technically demanding work within technical or paraprofessional area will be required.

Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes.

Independently seeks complex solutions and unusual problems before contacting others

The role may require providing expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower level employees.

Motivated to develop rail industry skills and knowledge.

Able to clearly communicate issues, options, benefits, priorities, and recommendations to team members and/or management

Advanced analytical reasoning skills. Capability of thinking through problems in a systematic and logical manner.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging work environment

Highly motivated and self starter with a positive, can-do attitude

Ability to work independently and also contribute positively in a team working environment

Adaptable to a variety of tasks and projects with attention to detail

Enjoy working with people from various cultural backgrounds

Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
