**Job Description:**







**Overview**







We currently have a great opportunity for a cloud DevOps engineer







working in the Solid Edge portfolio of products. This position will







work with cross-functional teams to develop products, business







processes and online commercialization of cloud applications, including







migration of current applications to cloud.







**Responsibilities**







In addition to others, DevOps practices should







include: automation of build, test, provision, configuration,







deployment, monitoring, and alerting activities; use of







infrastructure-as-code technologies; and integration of full-stack and







full-lifecycle technologies in ways which increase developer visibility







of systems and operations and operations staff visibility of







development processes.







Design, implement, and communicate scalable DevOps practices for highly







available cloud-hosted applications in the Amazon Web Services (AWS)







cloud environment.







Enable and promote an organizational culture which embraces DevOps







principles, such as Agile principles as applied to business,







development, and operations; the Twelve Factors; automation and







measurement throughout the software development lifecycle; and







knowledge sharing across teams and roles in the organization.







Participate in the software development lifecycle as a member of one or







more Agile development teams building cloud-hosted Web applications,







with an emphasis on cloud architecture and general technical problem







solving.







Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of cloud computing,







systems engineering, Linux system administration, network and







infrastructure security, infrastructure configuration, operations, host







and application monitoring, and related systems and operations







engineering topics. Keep and enforce organizational policies for







network, infrastructure, and software security; identity and access







management (IAM) and secrets management.







Perform research and development on new cloud, automation, and systems technologies and







methodologies; Introduce new technologies to others in the organization to promote a culture of innovation.







Architect and design software and systems solutions, including the







re-architecture of business-critical systems. Communicate with others







and coordinate across teams and people to carry out implementation







plans.







Understand complex products, solutions, and problems, including







those in both the technical and business domains.







Work without supervision on complex projects, given complete latitude for







independent judgment and technical expertise.







**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**







Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or other related







discipline required.







3+ years of systems engineering experience in a cloud environment







(preferably AWS).







Expert knowledge of systems architecture and design best practices,







Linux systems administration, and application and infrastructure







monitoring.







A willingness to independently learn and maintain knowledge







of best practices in these areas across the industry.







Proficiency in at least one programming language common in systems







and operations engineering, such as Python, Ruby, or Go.







Proficiency in Shell programming.







Proficiency in at least one infrastructure configuration automation







tool such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.







Familiarity with AWS EC2, S3 and IAM services, including best







practices for infrastructure and data security.







Understanding of core IT, software development, and Agile concepts.







Proactive business and leadership skills, including strong







collaborative skills.







Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a







globally distributed team.







Proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, product







lines, roles and geographical and time zone boundaries.







Excellent oral/written communication and listening skills, necessary







to present information, analysis and recommendations to all levels of







employees (including management and executives) and customers.







High degree of organization to manage and maintain project plans and







roadmaps, providing accurate updates as part of their view cycle.







**Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**







It is highly desirable that the candidate possess one or more of the







following:







Expert knowledge of one or more infrastructure configuration







automation tools.







Familiarity with AWS services used for automation, such as







CloudFormation, OpsWorks, CodeDeploy, Elastic Beanstalk, and others.







Familiarity with microservices and serverless software architectures







including AWS Lambda.







Experience in the administration Web and Java Application servers







such as Apache, Nginx, and Tomcat.
