JOB TITLE:                        Business Systems Manager     

BUSINESS UNIT:               IT/IS Department

LOCATION:                        Corporate- Watsonville, CA            

REPORTS TO:                    IS/IT Director

WORK SCHEDULE:           Generally M-F 8am to 5pm

TRAVEL TIME %:               Up to 25% of the time as needed for project launch/training and support

TYPE OF POSITION:         Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

 Assess business system requirements for business, financial, and operational functions within MMI, Inc. Develop strategic plans for optimizing business system capabilities to meet the needs of all functional groups. Plan, budget, and implement business system improvements through the enhancement of existing systems and the implementation of new systems as required. Establish priorities for addressing business system requirements within defined budget and time constraints. Lead the management, support, and optimization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems. Manage internal and external technical support resources as required to achieve committed development and support service levels

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Help define best practices, methodologies, and standards for the business application development team and its technology use.

  • Participate in end user application requirement definition and functional specification reviews to ensure business system requirements are well defined.

  • Plan, design, develop, and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications in order to meet company requirements.

  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed business system acquisitions and modifications to aid management in making investment decisions.

  • Conduct research on software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing or outsourcing efforts.

  • Create and execute test plans for new systems and system modifications.

  • Work with staff and employees to support the development of reporting needs.

  • Document standards, policies, processes, and user guides.

  • Collaborate with the Training Group to define employee user training requirements and provide content for training classes.

  • Work with the administrative team to assist with the development and maintenance of application security needs.

  • Assist in relationships with application suppliers to ensure optimal support and responsiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant business, financial, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and backup processes.

  • Remains on the forefront of emerging industry practices and technologies by means of newsletters networking, seminars, groups, or conferences to help drive product improvement initiatives.

Direct Reports: Direct and Indirect responsibility for IS Team Members and project consultants



  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports.

  • Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.

  • Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.

  • Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.

  • Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: 

Required:



  • Experience with IBM iSeries (AS/400) and RPG.

  • Expert knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Experience with JDE 9.1 best.

  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, and financial methodologies and processes.

  • Business process mapping and re-engineering experience.

  • Three + years in business systems development, project management and support experience.

  • Two year of supervising, developing and evaluating subordinates.

  • Working knowledge of standard reporting tools.

  • Ambitious self-starter with strong multi-tasking skills.

  • Willingness to work as needed in support of system maintenance, system deployments, and resolution of production issues.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple project assignments and has the ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities.

  • Ability to travel to other sites as needed.



Desired:



  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles a plus.

  • Knowledge of Hyperion a plus.

  • Statistical and data mining skills a plus

  • Seven+ years in business systems development, project management and support experience.

  • Five years of year of supervising, developing and evaluating subordinates.



Education:



  • Bacherlos Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science
