**Job Description:**

Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager will drive mid- to long-term business development activities in the construction marketplace in the Minnesota and Western Wisconsin market, mainly focusing on (but not limited to) the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. This role is required to develop, manage, and leverage relationships with key construction managers, general- and mechanical-contractors, and industry consultants. The goal of this relationship management is to establish long-term relationships with key contractors, consultants, and product-specifiers in order to generate specifications favorable to Siemens for strategic building control & automation, energy management, fire alarm, security, and other Siemens target projects. The BDM will work with the consulting engineer on conceptual design, specification development, sequences of operation, I/O lists, budgeting, etc., engage contractors on the construction budgeting and management, and partner with the sales team associated with the given targeted projects. This role will be measured on specific activity with targeted contractors, consultants, and project ownerswith a focus on relationship development and project acquisition.


+ Increase Siemens visibility and create a leadership position in the construction specifier and contractor community, resulting in an increased market share in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

+ Assist in the development of specifications on targeted projects to enhance the companys probability of success through price and preference.

+ This role requires the individual to develop and conduct seminars and lunch & learns to end-users, contractors and consulting firms to promote company products and solution sets.

+ Support local sales and management with strategic planning and forecasting through research, development, and maintenance of competitive information in the area.

+ Maintains technical competence of companys products, applications, and services while professionally representing Siemens in industry associations, professional organizations, and affiliations.

+ Follows through on executed projects to ensure satisfactory approval of design documents and to provide outstanding customer value.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

+ Required education: High school diploma, state-recognized GED, or state-recognized high school proficiency exam required.

+ Required experience: Five years of experience in HVAC, automated controls, construction management, or related industry.

+ Required travel: 10%

+ Other Requirements:

+ Excellent verbal, written, organizational and negotiation skills in English.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Must be at least 21 years old to participate in required Siemens vehicle plan.

+ Must have a valid drivers license in good standing.

+ Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future sponsorship.

+ Demonstrable professional principles and skills.

+ Must possess an outgoing personality, be able to present herself/himself and Siemens in a professional and positive way, be technically astute, and work well in a team environment.

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering. Alternate degree will be considered and, where applicable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

+ Preferred education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

+ Other preferences:

+ Professional Engineer license

+ LEED Green Associate or Accredited Professional
