**Job Description:**







Siemens Postal, Parcel and Airport Logistics is hiring Baggage Handling System (BHS) Mechanics in support of the team located at the Indianapolis International Airport location. This position requires experience and knowledge in the responsibilities as outlined.







Responsibilities:



Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on airport conveyance systems and their associated components and provide accurate and timely written reports of maintenance, operational and safety activities.



Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components as needed



Perform assigned maintenance activities on all system components including motors, clutches, brakes, gear reducers, chain drives, bearings, pulleys, diverters, photo cells, VFDs, e-stop circuits, three phase 480, PLC controls, computer software, network connection, servers etc.



Perform and direct corrective maintenance in an expedited and safe manner.



Communicate with all levels of TSA, airport and airline operations and management. Coordinate with Control Room Operator and stakeholders to execute contingency plans as needed



Diagnose, repair, rebuild devices following OEM quality standards



Work with minimal support and lead other team members



Clear bag jams as needed



Maintain cleanliness of entire system including floors, equipment, operational and work areas.



Mentor and train fellow employees as needed and provide operational train the trainer instruction to key stakeholders



Work in safe manner using all required PPE while adhering to all safety regulations and safe work practices.



Proactively inspects systems equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and/or identify opportunities for improvement.



Communicates on a regular basis with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure all requirement and standards are being met and to encourage good two-way communication



Maintain computer maintenance management system for tracking of work orders and maintenance history of equipment.



Order and maintain a stock of spare parts necessary for proper and timely servicing of the BHS.



Update daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activity schedules for site employees.



Maintain and update operation and training manuals as required.



Initiate and perform projects to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.



Assume responsibilities of Site Manager when Manager is on vacation or away from site.



Easily recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.



Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting (50 to 100 pounds), bending, reaching, climbing, walking, crawling, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, speaking, sight, and/or hearing to complete the job duties.



General cleanup of work areas.







Education:



Associates Degree or equivalent experience



OSHA 30 Certification preferred.



Required Skills:



Mechanical diagnostic and maintenance skills including but not limited to belts, bearings, pulleys, drives, and gearmotors.



Electro-Electronics/Industrial electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills including 480V three phase motor and control circuits, electrical schematic print reading, variable frequency drives, motor starters, and input/output systems.



Working knowledge of PLC systems and operations.



Must be able to read and understand Electrical/Controls schematics.



Must possess the ability to interpret data and recommend maintenance schedule/activity adjustments to the Manager.



Familiarity with high level control SCADA systems, and network architecture including servers, ethernet, fiber optic, network switches (ethernet, fiber), workstations, and barcode scanning systems.



Maintenance management software skills including generating and completing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, scheduling maintenance, and tracking inventory.



Basic management and supervisory skills including organization, mentoring and training including hands-on and classroom, communications, scheduling, and computers.



Excellent Customer Relationship skills.



Must have driving license with clean Driving Record.



Ability to pass all background checks and security screenings per airport requirements.

Five + years of experience
