**Role Value Proposition:**







This role sits in the Internal Communications & Employee Engagement Team within Global Communications in Corporate Affairs. Global Communications functions as a business partner to drive the global communications strategy for the company and ensure message consistency across all internal and external audiences. Global Communications is also responsible for developing the communication strategy and executing communication tactics for U.S. Business, Latin America, Asia, EMEA, Global Employee Benefits and as well as the Corporate Functions. As part of this responsibility, the organization partners with MetLife's Executive Group members to develop strategic communications.







Within Global Communications, the Internal Communications & Employee Engagement (IC) team plays a strategic role for the Enterprise in driving employee engagement. Their focus is on telling the companys story in a compelling and effective way so that employees understand MetLifes strategy and can contribute to top company priorities. With the goal of building employee engagement, the team develops communications messages and tactics for company-wide initiatives and is responsible for the strategy behind enhancing MetLifes internal communication channels and capabilities, such as the intranet, email, video and town halls. Members of the team serve as the communications business partners for Human Resources, Global Technology & Operations, Legal Affairs and Corporate Affairs.







**Responsibilities:**







MetLife is looking for a strong communicator who can create and produce compelling content that helps tell MetLifes transformation story around enhancing the customer experience. This AVP role will be the senior communicator for MetLifes global operations and services organizations.







The right candidate for this role is creative, innovative and consultative someone who can write and produce multimedia content that engages audiences, internal and external, across a variety of channels. He/she should also have superior organizational and project management skills, be adept at operating in a fast-paced and global environment and able to multi-task and motivate teams to meet tight and competing deadlines.







Content has to be candid and compelling and it has to have the right strategic context. The communicator in this role will be adept at doing both. He/she will consult with and advise senior leaders on their communications strategy; direct creative teams to develop internal video, print and multimedia campaigns; write internal e-mails, town hall presentations, speeches and intranet stories; and propose new and engaging ways for leaders to reach employees.







In addition, he/she will serve as the senior business partner and provide strategic counsel, communications strategy and support for key divisions of the global operations and service organizations. This role will also be responsible for writing, producing and distributing internal communications on topics that impact the customer and employee experience. He/she will engage business partners globally to ensure strategic alignment. He/she will also establish partnerships with key social partners, including Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter and other relevant companies, to uncover innovative opportunities and develop informed positions on where the industry is going and what that means for MetLife.







+ Provide counsel to executives and senior leaders on their communication strategies and then execute communication plans.



+ Develop and execute strategic internal and external communication plans that support objectives and shape positive business outcomes.



+ Simplify complex ideas and strategies from business partners with an understanding of how to make them relevant to key stakeholders.



+ Develop concepts, write compelling copy and direct creative to tell stories in an engaging manner. Effectively manage and deliver communications through a variety of channels using current and emerging communications technology.



+ Performs other related duties as assigned or required.



+ Lead and motivate direct report and matrix team members to meet deadlines.



+ Foster teamwork and help provide developmental opportunities for associates.



+ Engage and direct regional leaders so they play an active role in the communication process.



+ Work effectively through shared processes with others at all levels within the organization. **Essential Business Expertise:**







+ Bachelors degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism, Business, English, or Liberal Arts as well as any other related field of expertise.



+ 10+ years of experience in communications and external media relations.



+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in social media and new media channels with demonstrated results in using them internally and externally to engage stakeholders.



+ 8+ years of experience working with senior business leaders.



+ High proficiency in written and verbal communication.



+ The ability to explain complex concepts and make them relevant to the multiple audiences.



+ Track record of success in developing and executing integrated communications approaches. **Leadership Competencies:**
