**Role Value Proposition:**

The Real Estate Associate program will provide an excellent introduction to the various aspects of an insurance companys real estate investment department. The program will provide an opportunity to explore career options in the institutional commercial real estate equity investing, lending and investment management fields, while significantly enhancing personal credentials and building relationships with professionals in the industry. Following completion of the one to two year Associate program, candidate will be considered for placement into a functional business unit within MetLife Real Estate & Agricultural Finance.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Analytical support for the Debt Strategy and Equity Strategy Groups, Northeast Regional Office, Capital Markets and Risk, Research & Analytics teams.

+ Real estate market research, analysis and forecasting in support of investment decisions and portfolio strategy

+ Commercial mortgage risk assessment and bond-equivalent ratings; Commercial mortgage portfolio risk analysis and strategy development

+ Research and analyze global economic, commercial real estate fundamental and capital market conditions and trends. Relate these trends to risks and opportunities for MetLifes commercial real estate investment portfolio (mortgage loans and equity).

+ Real estate market forecasting and analysis, valuation guidance and underwriting review

+ Construction of underwriting tools and benchmarks; Portfolio geographic, property type and borrower/tenant exposure analysis and reporting

+ Analyzing risk related to portfolio exposures to certain industries, companies, etc.

+ Assist in communicating house view of market trends, risks and outlook via presentations and reports

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**


+ Candidate must be currently enrolled and actively pursuing a graduate degree in the finance, economics or real estate fields, with an intended graduation date by December 2018.

+ Candidate should have advanced analytical abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast-paced work environment


+ Minimum of 3 years of relevant real estate investment experience as a real estate analyst, appraiser, and/or mortgage underwriter

+ In-depth knowledge of Argus, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
