Associate Medical Director, Hematology/IVD Diagnostics

Medical & Scientific Affairs leadership position within the Abbott Diagnostics Hematology Business Unit. Responsible to provide medical and scientific input into product development and to support on market products. Lead scientific studies in support the business strategy.

The Associate Medical Director has business unit-wide influence, responsibility and functions as an internal expert resource. The individual will be actively called upon to provide medical and scientific guidance to business unit leadership and project teams. In addition, this role is responsible to:

  • Provide medical input into the product development process including requirement setting, data review and sample morphology interpretation.
  • Develops medical opinions, medical documents and Health Hazard Assessments. Serves as medical representative on Risk Evaluation teams. Assists investigation teams by providing medical input as needed.
  • Reviews and approves medical affairs input into quality & regulatory customer communications, design control activities, technical bulletins and quality directives.
  • Designs and manages Abbott-initiated and investigator-initiated scientific studies in support of the business unit scientific affairs strategy.
  • Analyzes results of scientific studies and produces publications and conference presentations.
  • Builds relationships with key opinion leaders and applies their input to enhance study design and protocols, as well as product requirements and product feasibility.
  • Supports Commercial organizations with scientific input, customer interactions and scientific presentations.
  • Reviews and approves medical input for promotional and commercial activities as requested.

    Minimum Qualifications

           MD Degree,3 years clinical experience  

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Medical Doctor Degree with training in Hematological pathology. Is a medical expert in Hematology. 3 years clinical experience.
    • 2 years experience in IVD or medical device industry working in medical affairs. Has provided medical input into product development and patient safety issues
    • Track record scientific study publication and presentations
    • Basic biostatisitcal and data processing experience
    • Experience working with and developing key opinion leaders
