The Residential Credit team at MetLife manages over $22B in investments across Non-Agency Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) and whole loan Residential Mortgages. Managing the portfolio is a team of leading market practitioners that play an active role in industry discussions that shape the direction of this market. The team invests in mortgage assets through much of the credit spectrum targeting both investment-grade and high-yield opportunities.







Residential Credit is a key component of MetLifes overall investment strategy and has been a key area of growth over the last five years. MetLife is looking for a talented associate to help analyze key industry trends in the Residential Credit space and help streamline investment processes within the team. The associate will have an opportunity to learn about other Structured Finance sectors and interact with senior members of the team.







**Key Responsibilities:**







+ Analyze market and consumer credit trends in order to improve default, prepayment and loss modeling on both Non-Agency RMBS securities as well as residential whole loans.



+ Analyze current processes for pre- and post-close collateral diligence on whole loan pools and make recommendations for improvements to help streamline the process and provide better transparency into progress.



+ Partner with other members of the Residential Credit team and the structured finance team to develop a better understanding of products and investment strategies at MetLife.



+ Assist in tracking and reporting the performance of the residential whole loan portfolio; Run monthly analytics and models to assess current and future portfolio risks.



+ Become an expert on our internal credit and cash flow models. Identify and drive improvements to modeling processes.



+ Provide analytical support to residential mortgage loan trading and reporting team; Run and analyze potential new purchases for the portfolio. Identify and suggest new ways to analyze new purchase opportunities.



+ Work on month end reporting including performance trends, potential sales candidates and aggregation of industry data; Research performance and trends in the residential mortgage market, including Non-Agency RMBS; Communicate with Street research groups.







**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**







Required:







+ 3 years of experience with Excel in a professional or academic setting.



+ BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Math or any other related field of expertise.



+ 2 years of experience with credit analysis or relevant coursework.







Preferred:







+ MBA and/or CFA.



+ Experience in trading and/or analyzing mortgages or mortgage securities.



+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.



+ Experience with SQL or other database tools.



+ Experience with VBA or other programming languages.
