Derivatives and Liquid Markets (DLM) is a critical component of MetLife Investments. DLM is comprised of four key functions: Derivatives and Currencies which is responsible for managing MetLifes global use of interest rate, equity, foreign currency, and credit derivatives; Government and Short Term Trading which oversees liquid investments in government and short -term securities; Capital Markets which focuses on the spread margin business including Securities Lending and Capital Markets Investment Products; and Structured Solutions which creates customized solutions to help achieve ALM objectives.


The Capital Markets Group (CMG) integrates the management and sourcing of assets and non-insurance liabilities through a centralized team focused on pursuing spread businesses within a consistent, disciplined asset-liability match (ALM) approach. The team manages the asset allocation strategy for funds raised from the liability placement of products including securities lending, funding agreement-backed medium term notes and commercial paper, Federal Home Loan Bank advances, and Farmer Mac advances.

The CMG team is responsible for margin establishment and management and enhances profitability through optimization of risks and returns and the avoidance of margin slippage that can result from separation of liability and asset responsibility.

This position will provide a candidate with the opportunity to gain exposure to a unique business model which includes both asset and liability responsibilities. The candidate will gain a better understanding of portfolio management, asset allocation, ALM, and business management functions.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Assist with portfolio management including:

+ Monitoring portfolio optimization tools,

+ Preparing sector-level relative value analysis,

+ Ownership of trade entry,

+ Ensuring daily liquidity needs are met, and

+ Other periodic and ad hoc portfolio analysis, such as ALM mismatch, Cash Flow projection and scenario analysis

+ Assist with liability issuance including:

+ FA-Backed Notes,

+ Federal Home Loan Bank advances,

+ Farmer Mac advances, and

+ New product development and existing business expansion

+ Participate in quarterly and annual plan process and assist with the establishment of the plan data and metrics.

+ Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external marketing.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**


+ MBA or CFA, with 5+ years of experience in Investments, Finance or Consulting

+ Strong analytical skills, computer skills and excellent problem solver

+ Good understanding of the financial markets

+ Motivated and good team player

+ Strong organizational and communication skills

+ Sound judgment


+ Strong liability insurance knowledge
