I'n a welder aboard nuclear submarines. I'm a civilian who works under the DoD umbrella.my job is rewarding sometimes and I use to think it paid well. It's far more difficult than almost any of these listed. We weld in severely confined spaces, dropping sparks and sometimes molten metall on ourselves. We weld in mirrors around piping and critical components. We take shit from engineers who think that just because it works in a cad program it will work on the boat. We are among the lowest paid on tithe shipyard and have the most critical jobs. We depend on Celeste's officials to increase our pay, instead we get pay freezes and furloughs. We are the silent backbone of the navy and get little reward. So, if these office types think they have it tough they can crawl into a bilge and mirror weld for a day for half their pay.

Agree. Unfortunately, wage scales are based on too many factors, many of which do not take into consideration work environment.
