Employment activity across the U.S. has risen significantly this year, gaining nearly 40 points between January and July. However, after a period of relatively steady improvement, the job market suddenly began to decline again over the summer, as the Index slid from a score of 106.9 to 99.5 between July and October. A strong performance in November has brought the Index back to within one point of peak levels for 2010, and puts employment activity on pace to post its strongest month of the year in December.Want to know where the jobs are?     After losing ground for the first time in more than two years, employment activity in Washington, D.C., enjoyed a strong rebound in November. Boasting an 8 point gain for the month, hiring in the nation’s capital has now reached a 35-month high.

    Employment activity in Seattle improved by 4.7% for November, marking the second straight month that the city has boasted an Index score above 100. While this was a far cry from the emerald city’s October performance, it helped keep Seattle well ahead of fifth-place Atlanta.
